Reason for deleting wikidate overlinkage[edit]

Avoid overlinking dates
If the date does not contain a day and a month, date preferences will not work, and square brackets will not respond to your readers' auto-formatting preferences. So unless there is a special relevance of the date link, there is no need to link it. This is an important point: simple months, years, decades and centuries should only be linked if there is a strong reason for doing so. Make only links relevant to the context for the reasons that it's usually undesirable to insert low-value chronological links.
Usage of links for date preferences
  • year only. So 1974 → 1974. Generally, do not link unless they will clearly help the reader to understand the topic.
  • month only. So April → April. Generally, do not link
  • century. So 20th century → 20th century. Generally, do not link
  • decade. So 1970s → 1970s. Generally, do not link (Including an apostrophe [1970's] is incorrect)
  • year and month. So April 1974 → April 1974 Generally, do not link
  • new year and month. So April 2000 → April 2000 Generally, do not link unless they will clearly help the reader to understand the topic. Presently, articles only exist for combinations from the year 2000 to current

It's good that you're trying to help improve the article. I'm afraid because of the name "Wood" there might be some confusion: Brothers Dick and Dave Wood were writers, not artists. Wally Wood is well-documented as the Sky Masters inker. You mention a Kirby interview, but don't site it so that it can be verified; additionally, Kirby sometimes got confused, so if he did say Dick and Dave Wood inked it, I'm sure there was an editorial comment correcting this.

Citation subheads per Wikipedia MOS[edit]

"Sources" really isn't one of the subheads Wikipedia uses, per WP:CITE. In terms of citations, the three categories and their names according to the Manual of Style are "Footnotes" or "Notes"; "References"; and "External links", "Further reading" or "Bibliography". Images[edit]

Most if not all of the images in this article have been tagged for fair-use question. In order to limit the amount of non-free art, I would argue that the Daredevil cover — the first public depiction of the Wood-designed costume that remains iconic nearly half-a-century later — is needed, as are the children's-book covers, the only depiction here of Wood's non-comics art.

Certainly, I would add a panel or two of Wood's EC art — the thing for which is probably best known and where he made his reputation — and I would remove the Against the Grain and Checklist book covers. The former, while showing his work, does not depict Wood's EC-era work in the actual context in which he drew it, namely the comics themselves. The latter shows a self-portrait; do we need two self-portraits?

As to the self-portrait in the infobox: An actual photograph would be preferable, but lacking one, this image depicts the artist while simultaneously demonstrating his style.

The Sky Masters panel can probably go. While an aficionado will see it as an example of how Wood's inking could overpower even a master penciler such as Jack Kirby, that's probably not of significant to the general-public reader.

The info page for the 22-panels image says the rights-holder has given permission to widely distribute it. I would suggest we contact the rights-holder to have him fill out the form for that. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:37, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tattoo[edit]

Jon Bon Jovi, world famous rock star, has a tattoo of the Superman symbol as seen here. Shaquille O’Neal, former NBA player, has a Superman tattoo as well. If this bit of information was included in the Jerry Siegel or Joe Shuster articles, it would be removed as WP:TRIVIA. The Bob Kane and Steve Ditko articles make no mention of the numerous Batman and Spider-Man tats sported though out the world, Why then should the Wally Wood article include D. J. Coffman's tattoo? If Wikipedia does not concern itself with the body art homages of world famous entertainers and athletes, then it shouldn't be bothering with the tats of obscure creators of webcomics.
