Walter H Mayson in the USA??[edit]

I have a Mayson violin - "Nivienne" (1902). When it was valued (by Andrew Hill, Great Missenden, in the 1980s) I was shown a book that recorded his biography. As I recall my reading, that indicated that he worked in the USA for a while, but that enterprise failed and he returned to Manchester a disappointed man, where he made "a few more instruments" (including mine) before his death in 1904. I have his book on making violins.

Reading available sources since then, I think I must be mistaken, although how I would substitute the USA for London (where evidently he did try and fail) I have no idea! Any comments, folks? AndyB (talk) 11:08, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
