Civic bucket?

[edit]

What IS a civic bucket? 46.138.77.215 (talk) 09:17, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it'd be the bucket where the tithes to the church would be collected, wouldn't it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.17.38.4 (talk) 05:05, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That must've been plankton's bucket Trajan anntonnius (talk) 18:53, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline incongruity in the introductory paragraph

[edit]

This battle occurred in 1325. However the last sentence of the introduction refers to another battle in 1289 between the same factions, but is written in such a way that infers that 1289 follows 1325 instead of preceding it. The offending sentence seems to be a conclusion to a different paragraph:

"After the Battle of Campaldino in 1289, the Ghibellines made a great comeback."

The introduction is not harmed if this sentence is removed; all the other battles of these factions are listed on the page with links, so further research is at hand if the reader wants. If it is important to retain this background information, it could be added, with some preceding info and text editing (their comeback wasn't AFTER the B. of Campaldino in 1289, is WAS the B. of Campaldino), so the statement makes sense, to the opening sentences of the BACKGROUND paragraph.

EXAMPLE:

Existing BACKGROUND text, first 3 sentences:

In 1176, Frederick Barbarossa was defeated at the Battle of Legnano by the Lombard League, which was a league that supported Pope Alexander III. This was the start of a long period in Medieval Italy, known as the Guelphs and Ghibellines. From that year, the two opposing factions warred with each other.

Insert:

"The Guelphs held the upper hand in Italy until the Battle of Campaldino in 1289, when the Ghibellines made a great comeback"

I don't know if above statement is true, I'm just showing example of how the statement could be retained and become useful information. I don't have access to the reference source or I would look it up myself and edit the page, but without additional x-wikipedia information about the state of affairs between the Guelphs and Ghibellines from 1175-1289, I am not qualified to perform the edit.

At very least, remove the sentence from the INTRODUCTION so it doesn't confuse others as it has confused me.

Thank you!
