History to discovery

I think that the article would do well to have some background to its discovery, looking to cover why was Warren digging through there, why was he in Jerusalem, ... billinghurst sDrewth 14:00, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article states that Warren's shaft "runs from within the old city". I assume the reference is to the City of David where Warren's shaft is located, not to what is today known as the Old City of Jerusalem. The ancient City of David - and therefore Warren's shaft - is located to the South of the area now called the Old City. Although the use of "old city" here may refer to the City of David, use of the term should be avoided here so as not to be confused with what is today called the Old City.
