This entire article is problematic[edit]

I think the focus of this article is inappropriately narrow. Examples of "standing bodies of water" would include lakes and ponds, many of which pose no significant environmental hazard whatsoever. Perhaps "standing water" should not redirect here. Alluvian (talk) 19:09, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this article listed in the "water pollution" template?[edit]

Is stagnant water really considered a type of water pollution? This article appears to present stagnant water as a type of water pollution, even though it is an essential part of certain ecosystems, such as swamps, bogs, and wetlands. Jarble (talk) 16:59, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
