Excellent revisions - I've only just started on Wiki - but I'm enjoying it - any idea on sources of info for these small villages ? Strider52 13:40, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Strider52 - www.visionofbritain.org.uk gives a number of government sourced statistics, otherwise Chris Aspin's many books are useful - such as 'The First Industrial Society: Lancashire', Carnegie 1995. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bobf (talkcontribs) 15:45, 28 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks Bob, very useful - are you the Bob Frith noted for his local photos ? - I have some old maps of the Waterfoot area and wonder about the best way to get them uploaded. Strider52 18:38, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think I can claim photography as one of my skills, although I am responsible for the wiki photo image on the Waterfoot page. Uploading maps is a bit of a problem, judging by how few really successful maps there are online, excepting the big players like google. I imagine a lot depends on the size of the original, if the image isn't too big a scanner would be the obvious answer. A large digital photocopier connected to a PC, like the one in our office, could also be handy. Bob.
I did think about that I might try our Head Office copier - reputed to be high definition - I just worry about the image size for uploading -I'd have to email it back to myself at home and our email has attachment size limits. Strider52 01:19, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
