I'm surprised that no mention is made of the various squabbles and accusations of maladministration that have plagued the WRU, that has led to top rugby journalist Stephen Jones calling it the worst administrative body in sport, and also led to such derogatory nicknames as 'Worst Run Union'.

I'll do some research on this, for the sake of balance. I recommend others contribute if possible.

I wish I had seen this a year earlier. Stephen Jones is not a "top rugby journalist", he is a moron who pushes outrageous opinions because he has nothing of any substance to say.GordyB (talk) 21:38, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have recently filled out the WRU League tables down to the 5th level, and was suprised at how few flagged as enteries in Wikipedia. I therefore started to create pages for the lower teams, including Beddau RFC, Treherbert RFC, Llanharan RFC. I was then finding myself being hit with speedy deletion notices as it appears that some people believe that these clubs have no notability. I believe there is worth and history in these clubs to be captured in Wikipedia. Does anyone think this is a waste of time, or do you think the clubs need representation?--FruitMonkey 13:32, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You were lucky, there are some people who simply speedy delete such articles on the grounds of "I've never heard of them"; the fact that they live in a completely different continent and have no knowledge of the sport doesn't seem to worry them. Unfortunately this means that you will probably need to justify things that should not need justification. I don't know a lot about grassroots rugby union in Wales but I think such articles could be argued to be notable. There are so many articles on wikipedia that are on more obscure subjects and they don't get deleted.GordyB 19:06, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the support. I believe the best argument is to counter argue that people wouldn't dare delete the English FA teams (some going down as low as the 20th tier), so why delete Welsh rugby articles which are some of the most important cultural statements in industrial and modern Wales. I think attaching these teams to the WRU page would water them down too much and they need their own pages. Anyone who agrees/disagress please post.--FruitMonkey 13:37, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
