"EGB 1972"

[edit]

EGB (Einheitsgesangbuch) is not to be confused with EKG (Evangelisches Kirchengesangbuch, introduced in the fifties) or EG (Evangelisches Gesangbuch, introduced in the nineties). EGB was just the working title of the hymnal that was finally published as "Gotteslob" in 1975. So "EGB 1972" does only mean that the actual text was created by the EGB committe in 1972. But this text was not a completely new one, but based on Michael Vehe and an already revised version of Vehe's text from the "Einheitslieder" (1947). The hymn's original title was "Wer heimlich seine Wohnestatt", which could be misunderstood, as "heimlich" has the meaning of "secret, furtive" in modern German. 37.209.63.230 (talk) 18:28, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
