Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on March 7, 2018.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that WestJet Encore, a Canadian airline which began flights in 2013, deactivates water lines in the lavatory sinks to prevent freezing on cold nights?

Incidents

[edit]

http://avherald.com/h?article=4aeff1ac

I do not believe that this incident merits inclusion but am presenting it here. The plane went into severe turbulence, injuring both flight attendants, one with serious injuries. Currently, inclusion requires death, causing major change in procedures, or serious damage to the plane. Vanguard10 (talk) 18:00, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Intro paragraphs

[edit]

I don't think the comments about McCafe or WestJet Dollars make a ton of sense sitting in the intro body. MattBinYYC (talk) 21:33, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Baggage & other fees?

[edit]

Readers will want to know what fees this low cost carrier charges beyond in-cabin food. They should be added to the article. — Lentower (talk) 13:34, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Why was this today's featured article

[edit]

Seems like an infomercial. Why would anyone care about a 5 year old airline? Has it done anything great, is it historically interesting, will anyone remember it in 10 years? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.55.103.39 (talk) 00:00, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Primary sources banners and FAR?

[edit]

@Left guide: I noticed that in December 2023 you added a bunch of primary sources banners to this article. Since this is a featured article, can you outline your concerns below so this can be formally noticed? If you are interested, you can also bring this article to featured article review in two weeks if no one addresses your concerns. Thanks, Z1720 (talk) 01:24, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Z1720, thanks for pinging me, I made that edit run quite a while ago, so I don't remember everything I was thinking then, but the gist of it is that it seemed unusual and surprising for a featured article to rely so heavily on primary sources (typically the airline's own website), hence the tags. From a cursory glance at the references of the FA-promoted version back in 2018, it looks like that version had fewer primary sources. Perhaps raising this at the airlines WikiProject talk page, and seeing if any of the folks there might be willing to shore up this article with independent references would be a good idea before taking it to featured article review. I left a note at WT:AIRLINES. Z1720 (talk) 01:20, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Left guide: It looks like your concerns have not been addressed. Would you be interested in bringing this to WP:FAR? Z1720 (talk) 20:22, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
