Proposed deletion[edit]

This article has been nominated for proposed deletion under Wikipedia:PROD, pointing to this WikiProject Aviation essay as indicating the topic's lack of notability / non-prominence. However, the parent essay acknowledges that aviation-related topics which "almost always have sufficient coverage to qualify" as notable topics include "aviation accidents resulting an loss of life." Seven people died in the West Chester B-25 crash. Importantly, the aircraft accidents and incidents essay states that "because this is an essay and not policy and also because it should not be applied to stand-alone accident articles, it is recommended that it not be cited at Articles for Deletion discussions for either keeping or deleting."

While most military aircraft crashes are non-prominent, I believe that this West Chester B-25 crash is notable not only because people died and a plane was destroyed but also because the details were widely reported in the Pennsylvania and Delaware newspapers (including the Philadelphia Inquirer, a national paper), because a monument was dedicated at the site fifty years later, and because ten thousand onlookers gathered in the immediate aftermath despite the rural location.
