Merge proposal[edit]

Guidelines at Wikipedia:WikiProject UK geography/How to write about settlements state that ideally the civil parish should be the catch-all article, avoiding single line articles on every village and landmark within the parish.

Therefore, I suggest that villages within the parish with a one or two sentence article, ie West Chiltington Common, Gay Street, Balls Green & Broadford Bridge to be merged and redirected to this parish article. ++ MortimerCat (talk) 14:12, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Further merge proposal[edit]

I have suggested that West Chiltington & Thakeham Cricket Club be merged into this article, since the cricket club article itself is not particularly notable or encyclopaedic, and currently is filled with information that is unsourced, saved for the club's own website. The page creator notes that the club is named for two villages, but since it meets and plays in West Chiltington, this seems the most appropriate location for a brief mention - perhaps a simple expansion on the current sport section. As far as the West Chiltington and Thakeham articles are concerned, the club is already mentioned, possibly with scope for a small expansion on the club merger? I do not see a problem with the cricket club article staying though. There is a question of notability, there are some guidelines at WP:CRIN, so maybe let it run the gauntlet with an AfD? ++ MortimerCat (talk) 06:43, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
