this article is very poorly written.

Agreed. So bad, I do not even know where to start to clean it up. Gtwfan52 (talk) 03:33, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Band is not a sport

[edit]

First, please understand this is not the school's page on Wikipedia; instead it is an independent encyclopedia article about the school. By definition, an encyclopedia is tertiary. That means that virtually every single thing in the article needs to be verifiable to reliable sources, totally independent of the school. It's completely irrelevant what the school considers band to be. Many schools refer to their students as men and women. That does not change the fact that they are boys and girls. Unless you can present appropriate sources showing that the world considers band a sport, you cannot list it under athletics. That being said, a school article should have a section on "Arts" in which band chorus theatre and other arts programs are covered. It's fine to source the existence of a program to the school, however any claims of achievement or other "Wow" factors such as biggest, first, etc must have independent sources. We only discuss ultimate achievement such as state or national championship, we do not discuss achievement of individuals, and we do not use names. These are exactly the same limitations imposed on athletics content. Thanks for your understanding. John from Idegon (talk) 16:02, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
