West Hill, Calicut[edit]

West hill and East hill are two nearby hills at the north side of city of Calicut. Looking each other and standing side by side without much distance in between. West hill from the British period is for military barracks. Now one of the main activities there is making recruitments to the army from time to time. West Hill also contains Defense Helipad, Collectors Bungalow, </Varackal Temple>, St.Michels Girls High School, Polytechnic, Engneering College, etc.

East Hill at the British time gave home to their collectors including William Logan. Now Pazhassi Raja Museum and VK Krishna Menon museum situates there in the old collectors bungalow. Calicut Central School 1, East Hill Higher Secondary School and Physical Education School are also on this hill. For P.E. school there is a good playground below.
