Decommissioned?

[edit]

WV 59 is no longer marked as a state route on West Virginia highway maps. It appears to have been decommissioned several years ago. Brian Powell (talk) 01:50, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's still on the county map last updated November 2007: [1] --NE2 14:56, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I do see that, but my guess would be that it is just an issue where the county map hasn't been updated correctly. I've occasionally seen other problems like this where the county maps aren't always updated to reflect conditions on the ground (major road reconstructions or effective abandonment) or where road jurisdiction is changed between the state and Forest Service. Since the route isn't on the main state map and isn't signed as a primary state route in the field, I assume the state considers it to have been decomissioned. The WVDOH county supervisor says it is still shown in their records as a WV route. [2] Brian Powell (talk) 19:03, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
