old talk

In an episode of The Simpsons, Homer is looking through some old newspapers and one says in its headline 'so-and-so to blablabla: where's the beef?' and Homer blatantly doesn't understand whatever humour there was in the article and laughs at 'where's the beef'. might be worth including if somebody knows the full headline and a bit more about it. Someone told me that there was more than one version of this advertisement. Is this true? Galaxydog2000 21:22, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

"commercials were aired with other people doing the line, but they were less popular" - Yes.

Programmers are sometimes known to place the hex code 'beef' into memory to enable a scan for the 'beef' word or bytes to obtain its address, with a comment on the code lines performing the scan of "Where's the beef?"

Insularity

I updated the introduction, which failed to mention that usage of this catch phrase is almost entirely limited to certain parts of the US and is unlikely to be known to anyone outside the US.

Not so fast... that commercial aired in Canada as well. I'm updating the article to reflect that. Rawr 23:29, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

How is it limited to "certain parts" of the commercial and presidential debate both aired nationally? D-Clancy 00:03, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

The actual line she was supposed to say was "Where is all the beef" but because of her shortness of breath due to old age it was spoken "Where's the beef". -Bud

I dust-off this subject by mentionning these vintage Wendy's commercials on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOyQfd7OqIY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug75diEyiA0 and the 1984 Democratic party debate with Walter Mondale http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug75diEyiA0 --Sd-100 (talk) 21:11, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Language?

Are we sure this is a language related stub? Gohst 11:17, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

The forgotten commercial...

There was a second "Where's the beef?" commercial that aired about the same time as Peller's first. It featured three old men, and the one exclaiming "Where's the beef!" was a tall thin man with glasses and a booming voice. (When Peller's verson of the commercial was the one to become popular, this one was quietly retired, along with the three old men). I'm not the only one who remembers that, am I? Does anyone know who that old man was? - Wrassedragon 13:48, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

I remember the commercial with the old men as well. I couldn't remember whether it predated or postdated the Clara Peller commercial. I don't know who the old man who said that line was.NIST91 (talk) 00:58, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

By the way, Slovakian guy from Eurotrip says this phrase.--Sindikat (talk) 13:25, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

When

During primaries in the spring of 1984

This phrasing is ambiguous and needs rewording. Did this happen in September, October or November? A precise date would be better here. --B.d.mills 07:09, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Ahem, Northern Hemisphere. March, April, May, or June would be the months being referred to... --- RockMFR 17:21, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
