Talk:Whistler Weasel Workers

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Although many ski clubs have volunteers that support local kids ski racing programs, and sometimes regional alpine ski races, the Whistler Weasel Workers are unusual due to the size of the organization and the Weasel's specialty of undertaking course work for senior speed events, that is Downhill, Super Giant Slalom and Giant Slalom events at the National an International levels.

Other similar groups in North America include the Talon Crew of Beaver Creek, the Alberta Sled Dogs and Team 44.

Development of downhill courses for most World Cup alpine ski races is heavily dependent on professional groups and sometimes local military, with assistance from volunteers. World Cup ski races in Lake Louise, AB and Whstler BC are unusual on the World Cup circuit in that most of the course work is performed by volunteers. The precise nature of the course crew for various World cup races has not been researched.

This topic would be properly described in the Competition discussion of the Alpine Skiing article.
