Requested move 26 November 2020[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. The result of the move request was: Not moved. There is a consensus that 1 capital letter is not a sufficient disambiguation from the animal species. (non-admin closure) (t · c) buidhe 12:53, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

White Bat (album)White Bat – only actual article named White Bat Jax 0677 (talk) 02:33, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). ─ The Aafī (talk) 14:42, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Jax 0677: Oppose as the album currently only has 8 monthly views compared to the Honduran white bat's 5600+. I wouldn't say it qualifies as significant enough to take over the primary use of the name — IVORK Talk 02:47, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reply - If the He Is Legend album is actually named "White Bat", the number of hits for the "Honduran white bat" is irrelevant, unless we move "Honduran white bat" to "White bat". Assuming we move "Honduran white bat" to "White bat", "White Bat" has a capital "B", which is the entire purpose of having capital letters in a title. Hat notes will take care of people finding the article that they seek. --Jax 0677 (talk) 20:16, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore to my response, a WP:GOOGLETEST of White Bat provides answers only about the bat species. The majority of links for the first 5 pages are all for the bat species, intermittently broken up by Tacca integrifolia (White bat flower) but no references to the album or band so stand by my conviction, it's current form is the most useful to readers. I mean you yourself tagged it for notability concerns — IVORK Talk 21:41, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Reply - As long as the album article remains, and is the only article titled "White Bat", it should be at that title. --Jax 0677 (talk) 00:12, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Jax 0677: do you really think that this sub-stub is worth keeping? The previous album charted at 170, no sign of this charting, and article creator couldn't even be bothered to add album cover. In ictu oculi (talk) 12:30, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Reply - "As long as the album article remains, and is the only article titled White Bat, it should be at that title" (in other words, I have little to no opinion about whether the article should be kept, albeit, the term with the capital "B" should be redirected to He Is Legend). --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:17, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reply - Per Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Different_spelling_variants, "If the titles of two articles differ only in capitalization or the separation or non-separation of components (as per WP:DIFFCAPS or WP:PLURALPT), the articles each should contain a hatnote to link to each other for example Ice cube and Ice Cube". The fact that white bat has no article supports moving this article. Pitfalls, White Rabbit (another name for "Snowshoe hare") and Leprous are other examples of where the article exists at the primary title, with the first remaining per a move request. Disambiguating something like this could set a dangerous precedent. --Jax 0677 (talk) 00:11, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate I don't think the title case is sufficient here given that the article is tagged with notability and animal types are often capitalized but I'm skeptical that the animal is primary either so its probably safest to disambiguate. • Oppose, and consider deleting/merging album stub species names very often are capitalised by people. In ictu oculi (talk) 12:26, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
