split articles[edit]

There was one article Whitesand bay refering to two beaches one in Pembrokeshire and one in Cornwall. It seems as if there has been some confusion. I have therefore split the articles. During the splitting process I copied the pages then edited them. In this process a bot picked up on the fact that two pages on wikipedia were the same this is why. --Benjaminevans82 17:16, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whitesand or Whitesands[edit]

Is the title of this article correct? I always thought it was Whitesands Bay and there are lots of references to it on the web by that name and very few that show it as Whitesand. Richerman (talk) 17:04, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In St Brides Bay?[edit]

This article places Whitesands Bay in St Brides Bay. This is in conflict with the St Brides Bay article which says "...its northern limit is marked by Ramsey Island off St David's Head." This definition seems to match the shape of the coast. I propose deleting "in St Brides Bay". Comments? Verbcatcher (talk) 02:28, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's not quite that simple. Wikipedia is not a reliable source and the statement in the St Bride's Bay article is cited with a reference to the map - so someone has looked at the map and decided that St. Brides bay ends at Ramsey Island (which isn't " off St Davids Head" anyway). If you look at the local website here it says "Whitesands Bay is a wide sandy stretch of beach in St Brides Bay, Pembrokeshire". However, I agree it doesn't appear to be in St Bride's Bay. Perhaps if we just say it's on the St David's Peninsula. Richerman (talk) 10:20, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that Wikipedia is not a reliable source (that's why I posted on the talk page rather than editing the article). However, the website you cite isn't much more convincing (operated by croeso.net in Wrexham). I'm happy with the text as it is now. Thanks Verbcatcher (talk) 14:23, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Done. One archived link was ok, one was broken and I have replaced it. Verbcatcher (talk) 13:46, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
