The "sketches" between the stories[edit]

There is no overarching narrative or sequence to the book, except that in the first "sketch" John introduces himself, and in the last story he accepts Evadare, who does not appear in the others, into his life. The sketches between the chapters have no apparent connection to their neighboring stories, and cannot properly be called "linking episodes". --Thnidu (talk) 04:59, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
