Director[edit]

"Director Yoshiaki Kawajiri had just completed his work directing the very dark and gritty The Running Man and was asked to direct a 35 minute short on Hideyuki Kikuchis novel."

Can someone elaborate on this please? Does this have anything to do with Stephen King's novel The Running Man (or the Schwarzenegger film, for that matter)? Right now this page links to that one and there's no mention of Yoshiaki Kazajiri over there. --Do Not Talk About Feitclub (contributions) 08:24, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's referring to a segment of Meikyû monogatari that he directed. The article should probably be changed to properly reflect that. --Closedmouth 12:13, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Original novel[edit]

To the anonymous editor who added some info on the novel:

I think it's best to add it to Wicked City (novel) since this article is (or was) cluttered enough. The film has its own identity and potential for expansion; there's no need to clump it together with the novel and relegate it to a mere adaptation of a book.--Nohansen (talk) 00:06, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

'production' section[edit]

Director Yoshiaki Kawajiri had just completed his work directing the very dark and gritty segment The Running Man from portmanteau anime Meikyu Monogatari (1987) and was asked to direct a 35-minute short on Hideyuki Kikuchis novel

This is the first sentence of the section, and it seems to me the word 'portmanteau' has been flagrantly misused. Perhaps is is meant to be 'anthology'. But I dare not make the change, as I am completely unfamiliar with Meikyu Monogatari.220.240.153.58 (talk) 18:28, 6 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Portmanteau film is a synonym for "anthology film". Gabriel Yuji (talk) 18:35, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Deseret News review basically just states the plot summary[edit]

and calls it misogynistic along with providing an age rating. Considering it’s already been mentioned above by Charles Solomon, I’ll be replacing it with a more informative review. I’m also tempted to replace the ANN review too, with maybe an RT-approved one like the others, since the reviewer is not professional or arguably “reliable”. Considering adding a ‘differences from novel to screen’ section[edit]

Would need some help in the translation department, but would love to see this common adaptation section applied to this film. Wtatman (talk) 05:28, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
