Redirect this redirect to Wikipedia:Wikipedians[edit]

I feel it's more fitting to redirect it to that than to the Wikipedia article, since the redirected to-page doesn't have much on Wikipedians.--GCFreak2 04:06, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agree completely[edit]

A Wikipedian is a very different entity from Wikipedia, and the Wikipedia page doesn't even have a heading or sub-heading on Wikipedians. I wonder how many people each day are frustrated by the existing unhelpful redirect.Robert Pollard (talk) 16:52, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation[edit]

On further reflection, this should probably be a disambiguation page, between:

  • Wikipedian, noun: Someone who is a participant in/contributor to Wikipedia. Wikipedians
  • Wikipedian, adjective: Of or about Wikipedia

How to give credit for photos, etc.[edit]

Should we make a list of Wikipedians who contribute media content (e.g. photos) if they are williing to share their real names? -- Fplay 20:37, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

How to track[edit]

Some people like being able to user "what links here" to track their content. How to handle this? The article should not piont back to their home (or a subpage) in User: -- Fplay 20:40, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

Wikipedian was recently changed from a redirect to Wikipedia:Wikipedian into an article. It should not have been a redirect across namespaces, but it also doesn't really merit an article unto itself--it serves no function except to explain Wikipedia policies and processes. I suggest that it would best be merged and redirected to Wikipedia. Chick Bowen 06:09, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

We need both pages. "Wikipedia:Wikipedian" is about "let us have a fun Wikipedia community where both experts and amateurs feel welcome and are motivated to contribute". "Wikipedian" is about "let us make sure that the Wikipedia encyclopdia has good quality". -- Fplay 17:56, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
In discussions about this, please take into account that there appear to be highly used templates that link here in reference to "Wikipedia editor". Take a look at "what links here." Whatever we do should make sense with that link (or we need to change the template(s)). (John User:Jwy talk) 00:35, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with this merge. Wikipedian is very different of "Wikipedia". FML hi me at pt 13:58, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

wiki speak[edit]

I think a page is needed to list wikisims

This entry should redirect to Wikipedia community[edit]

Change made as new target actually discusses the term. -- JLaTondre 22:13, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"Wikipedia community" is now a redirect to Wikipedia, so this entry should also be a redirect to "Wikipedia". 16@r 13:42, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done. --- RockMFR 17:03, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Double redirect[edit]

It's a double redirect now. Jeffrey.Kleykamp 18:50, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Wikipedians[edit]

This should redirect to Wikipedia:Wikipedians. Kingturtle (talk) 17:07, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cross-namespace redirects aren't popular here, though that page is certainly more relevant if we ignore the Wikipedia: prefix. I really think there should be an article about the Wikipedia community that it could redirect to, and it's probably just a matter of people finding the sources and doing the work to get such an article back up and running, and safe from deletion.
