Not a guidebook

[edit]

@Guliolopez: I agree Wikipedia is not a guidebook. But this is an Alpine hut which is a refuge or overnight stop for climbers and not a tourist attraction run for a profit. I've changed the title of the section "Tours" which may have implied it was advertising guided tours to "Hiking routes" which is a better translation of the German word. Otherwise the article is pretty factual and not touristy. Happy to discuss. Bermicourt (talk) 09:34, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya.
RE: "subject is not run for a profit". Cool. But I'm not sure how that's relevant. Non-commercial orgs/clubs/places/subjects fall within the WP:NOTGUIDEBOOK (and WP:VER) guidelines just as much as commercial/for-profit subjects.
RE: "changed section title from 'Tours' to 'Hiking routes'". Great; that's definitely better. But do we have refs to support the section's content? (If WP:VER were met, the WP:NOTHOWTO issues mightn't be quite so concerning).
RE: "pretty factual". Without refs, how does the reader or another editor verify the facts? And do we really need quite so many "how to get here, how to get from here" sections? (It may not be "touristy" in tone, but it is "how to" in form.)
Cheers. Guliolopez (talk) 00:16, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for asking. I translated the article from German Wikipedia so it comes as it is to begin with. Mountain huts are an important feature of the Alps as refuges, staging points, viewing points and the like. They are often the only human structure for miles around. How to get to and from places is important information if you're climbing and hiking. I agree the article needs further references; if I have time I'll track some down. It needs someone who can speak German. Bermicourt (talk) 07:54, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's done. Bermicourt (talk) 08:34, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
