Talk:Will Oldham discography

I have expanded and moved the discography to it's own page here. I have not included everything he has recorded. I have tried to stick with releases where he is the major contributor. I have also left off any releases which complie previous releases (eg there was an EP which compiled the Mountain 7" and Gulf Shores7". I only included the original singles on this list). ikes 20:02, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have been working on further expanding this page by making it more extensive and working on creating separate articles for EPs, etc. Snow1215 01:13, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't know where to put this or how to edit the page, but Songs of Love and Horror was released under the name "Will Oldham", which is significant. He seems to distinguish between styles with the name he releases under. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.18.33.198 (talk) 20:38, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • See you new section on major expansion of Will Oldham discography at bottom of page. 13 May 2008

Fair use rationale for Image:Easedowntheroad albumcover.jpg[edit]

Image:Easedowntheroad albumcover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:48, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wai Notes[edit]

Someone should add the Wai Notes album. Released in late 2007 through Drag City on the Sea Note label. I would add it but I'm not sure where it should go ... it's a collaboration album but it's also demos from The Letting Go. It's attributed to Dawn McCarthy & Bonny Billy (in that order.) ExampleOfHumanBeing (talk) 19:21, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion[edit]

I've pretty much added every single release that Oldham has contributed to. This has seen an expansion in the number of songs in the collaboration area and also adding in a number of singles, collaborations etc that were missing which should definitely be included. The collaboration album area is also greatly expanded to include a number of projects where Oldham has produced someone else's work and played instruments throughout the album - as opposed to just one or two songs which would be in the Songs section. I've added in separate listings for singles where the CD version contains extra tracks from the 7" version but I've maintained the staus quo of not re-listing duplicated material such as the Happy Child bonus single etc. I've also reinstated albums like Superwolf and the Tortoise album to the main Oldham discography of albums. By any stretch of the imagination these are Oldham albums where his backing musicians receive a co-credit. With Oldham singing on each and every song it would be strange not to include them.

I compiled the Will Oldham discography for Record Collector a few years back so I have been trying to organise his career for some time now and hopefully others reading this will understand that these aren't just some random alterations for the sake of it. Many thanks to all those who have contributed to getting this page set up over the years and to Leo with his ultimate Oldham discography over at the Royal Stable. Whereas that brilliant list gives absolutely everything in chronological order I think this page offers a chance to organise it by type of release in a way that is very easy to reference. Hopefully now that the page includes every single release it will be an easy task to just keep updating it. Again, many thanks to all those who contribute here and hopefully you'll approve of the reasoning and the logic behind the changes I've made. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Captainev (talkcontribs) 11:50, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions. As someone who has also contributed quite a bit in this page's expansion, I like the changes you've made. If you're up for it, it would probably be a good idea to update the Template:Will_Oldham page to reflect your changes. Thanks! Snow1215 (talk) 14:37, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Question: have you forgotten to include the single he did with Matt Sweeney for [adultswim]'s singles program? it's called "Love in the Hot Afternoon." Here's the site it's on. it's the first single released: http://www.adultswim.com/promos/201005_kia/index.html24.225.33.215 (talk) 02:29, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
