Photograph Anachronism[edit]

I have come to the conclusion that the photograph's inclusion with this article (as well as it's attribution in the source material) is incorrect. The photograph is anachronistic, and contains facial hair and hair grooming that would have only been found after the 1850's, not even in the 1820's. There are other illustrations of Coleman which don't resemble this at all (see: http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/dgkeysearchdetail.cfm?trg=1&strucID=256219&imageID=431466&total=437&num=180&word=Hall%2C%20Henry%20Bryan&s=3&notword=&d=&c=&f=4&k=0&lWord=&lField=&sScope=&sLevel=&sLabel=&sort=&imgs=20&pos=196&e=w and http://www.andover.edu/About/NotableAlumni/Pages/shortlist.aspx). I believe this photograph may be of another William Coleman, but don't believe it is the editor.

Indeed, the source itself says it was based on a Photograph (unknown in 1829), and that the photograph was done by Charles Robson of Philadelphia (see: http://digitallibrary.hsp.org/index.php/Detail/Object/Show/object_id/15#). Looking for other works by Charles Robson, one sees he is active in the 1880's (See: http://books.google.com/books?id=TVAbAQAAMAAJ&pg=RA2-PA44&lpg=RA2-PA44&dq=Charles+Robson+portrait+philadelphia&source=bl&ots=1KBk3_3AIc&sig=R6s4PZ0C2Xt7Dcc_VBLx9EglbI4&hl=en&sa=X&ei=EGi-UIjPNomg9QSr_oHYDA&ved=0CCsQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=Charles%20Robson%20portrait%20philadelphia&f=false) This would certainly exclude this Photograph from being a likeness of William Coleman.
