Claim to leadership

[edit]

Under this section, the statement was made "and the majority of FLDS Church members have moved to the YFZ Ranch near Eldorado, Texas”. There is no citing for this. According to the 2006 census, there are 6500 people in Hildale, UT and its twin city, Colorado City, Arizona. These two towns are predominantly FLDS according the Arizona and Utah Attorney Generals. According to the Wikipedia article YFZ Ranch there are approximately 700 people in the YFZ ranch. That means that YFZ would make up only 10% the population of Hildale and Colorado City. Therefore the claim that “and the majority” of FLDS members are in Texas is highly questionable. Additionally, the statement that Merril Jessop is probably the de facto leader of the FLDS Church is made biased on this questionable claim. It cannot be proven one way or the other if Merril Jessop is the leader, let alone based on the population of YFZ vs. Hildale/Colorado City. Additionally the references seem to confuse Willie Jessop with William E. Jessop. Nowhere dose the reverences state the Willie Jessop is anything more then spokespersons for the FLDS church. No claim to leadership is made.

The solution would appear to be to just delete the one offending sentence. I'm not sure why those references are included either—they don't make much sense in context. (I included them but I believe I copied this sentence and the references from a different article—possibly FLDS Church.) Good Ol’factory (talk) 22:08, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
