Ship name[edit]

I wonder if we can clear up the issue of the ship name? Is it the Sea Slipper as reported in the newspapers or Sea Clipper as the Canadian Dictionary of National Biography has. I suspect the Royal Humane Society Archives now held by the London Metropolitan Museum may be the most authoritative (http://www.royalhumanesociety.org.uk/html/research_request.html). I don't think either the Sea Slipper/Clipper or the Loon were merchant ships so won't show up on the Lloyd's lists. If we can confirm one way or another, I think a bit about Jackman's rescue would make a good DYK for the main page. His was an amazing feat even if there was some hyperbole in the accounts. --Erp (talk) 03:57, 1 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Storm, October 9, 1867[edit]

The storm was a major one and seems to be known as the Labrador Gale of 1867 (and surpassed in that era and area only by the 1885 gale in destruction). It it mentioned in List of disasters in Canada by death toll but I think we need a firmer reference for this article. --Erp (talk) 04:39, 1 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
