Untitled[edit]

The entry for William Mattice states that he represented Stormont in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada from 1851 to 1857 and that his son, William D. Mattice, also represented Stormont in the Legislative Assembly.

The book, Legislators and Legislatures of Ontario Volume 1 1792-1866, produced by Ontario Legislative Library, Research and Information Services, compiled and edited by Debra Foreman has conflicting information to the above entry. It does not list any William Mattice as a Member of the Provincial Parliament, but instead lists William D. Mattice, as the representative for Stormont for the 4th, 5th and 6th Legislatures of the Province of Canada. The book also gives the following information on these Legislatures. The 4th Legislature (general election November to December 1851) ran from August 19 1852 until June 22 1854 over two sessions. The 5th Legislature (general election July to August 1854) ran from September 5 1854 until June 10 1857 over three sessions. The 6th Legislature (general election December 1857 to January 1858) ran from February 25 1858 until May 18 1861 over four sessions. William D. Mattice was therefore Stormont's representative from 1851 until 1861 according to this book.
