Picture?

[edit]

Is anyone aware of the existence of a picture of William Moorcroft and George Trebeck? In a few weeks time I'll be viewing the Moorcroft collection in London in the hope of finding one.

No, but it would be very good to find one of either or both of them . Moorcroft is a really interesting man; I know I became aware of him, courtesy of a BBC Radio4 programme about his life some years ago. The possibility that he failed to find the horses he had been sent to find, but instead, faked his own death, and lived out the remainder of his life in Lhasa, is absolutely fascinating, and was mentioned in the programme. Can you remember to sign things on the Talk page by using the four tildes ~ ~ ~ ~ with no spaces?

John Keay wrote several books in which Moorcroft features prominently. In the soft cover edition of "When Men and Mountains meet" there's a supposed portrait of Moorcroft in the images facing page 71.

William Moorcroft

[edit]

My attention has been directed to this article and was surprised to find that it makes no reference to the full-length biography of Moorcroft I published in 1985 after a quarter of a century of research and recently re-published in New Delhi. The existing article leaves much to be desired in other respects too and frankly is not susceptible to editing. CI would be willing to have a go at replacing it if required. There are two illustrations purporting to be of Moorcroft but I have so far not found anything you could call a portrait or even a likeness 87.114.255.52 (talk) 18:18, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to improve this article with as much reliable and verifiable information as you can possibly come up with, whilst at the same time adding your biography to the list of sources. Be most welcome :-) Qwrk (talk) 22:01, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And, Garry Alder, can I please ask you to open an account so we know what's being added / improved / changed by you? Thanks in advance. Qwrk (talk) 22:04, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
