Does anybody else think it vital to link to this former name of a country? Per WP:OVERLINK, links to countries are discouraged unless there is a pressing reason. Is there one? --John (talk) 12:04, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Payment[edit]

Does anyone know how whether the German government ended up paying compensation, and if so, how much? In the diplomatic correspondence, Germany asserted the right, under international law, to sink the W.P. Frye, as it carried what it saw as contraband, but agreed they had to pay compensation, based on Prussian-American treaties, for the seized (or destroyed) contraband. Both governments agreed to each nominate an expert to fixed the amount, and maybe take it to The Hague. What happened afterwards, I don't know. Drmab (talk) 19:08, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
