Could someone reference his year of birth, please?

[edit]

The picture at Find-A-Grave [1] shows that his tombstone gives "Jan 31, 1818" as his birthdate.

The Daily Telegraph obituary [2] claims that he was "about forty-seven years of age" when he died on January 26, 1871 (the tombstone claims Jan 22) - which would make him born around 1824.

The current article says that he was born in 1831, which would make him only 40 years old in 1871, but doesn't give a reference - it might be in one of the cited books. Help? --Alvestrand (talk) 14:23, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed and cited his birth-date as 31 Jan. 1818, using Civil War High Commands as a source, which I added to the refs. This is a book commonly used on the ACW pages, and it states a matching time of death. The in-line citation can be removed after a short time allowing other editors to research it more. Hope this addresses your concerns. Kresock (talk) 01:21, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Error on picture ID.

[edit]

The picture to the left/center is *not* Peck, but rather Robedeaux Wheat, who was KIA during the Seven Days battles and is buried in Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond,Va. See the Wiki listing on the same. Note: Both officers had Louisiana ties. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.118.254.32 (talk) 19:34, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
