Merge proposal=[edit]

Of the two articles, this one has the only reference. Dbromage [Talk] 07:03, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge per the proposal, as "version" and "song" in this case mean the same, due to Jones not being the composer of the original. The single present reference would serve the merged articles. Ref (chew)(do) 11:40, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Misspelled Name[edit]

I believe that the horse's name is Stoogehand, not Stu Chan. This seems to make more sense in context, given that it parodied Stagehand. I will edit this to reflect that now.Pootwattle (talk) 22:30, 2 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Feetlebaum or Beetlebaum?[edit]

Record labels show the subtitle of the piece as Beetlebaum, e.g. http://images.45cat.com/spike-jones-and-his-city-slickers-william-tell-overture-rca-victor-3.jpg, https://img.discogs.com/aD9VwuuzW5AvjSpawGTWE1TGu5g=/fit-in/557x561/filters:strip_icc():format(jpeg):mode_rgb():quality(90)/discogs-images/R-4820382-1376525317-3546.jpeg.jpg, https://img.discogs.com/s05pcfcV5jEc5KCEV9CHfX620Wg=/fit-in/600x600/filters:strip_icc():format(jpeg):mode_rgb():quality(90)/discogs-images/R-8042152-1479412995-6510.jpeg.jpg

On the other hand Doodles Weaver called his sequel Feetlebaum Returns: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QaP4PvjeY8k/Vbu5mYa00jI/AAAAAAAAD6Q/yvZsnHqnj6Q/s1600/DW-FR%2BLP%2Bobverse%2Bicon.jpg

Is there any clarification to be had? Koro Neil (talk) 03:45, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It seems the early releases there is no mention of the horse name in the title of the song. From what I have found it first started to show up in 1960s as Feetlebaum [1] and then later in the 70s sometimes as Beetlebaum.
I think since the Feetlebaum releases predates the death of Spike Jones and as mentioned Doodles Weaver also seems to confirm the name when he released an album in 1974 titled Feetlebaum Returns! with side 1, track 1 being titled "The Great Horse Race - "Feetlebaum". The name is quite clearly Beetlebaum in this recording https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BavRrRNvz8g Scentoni (talk) 18:20, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
