Dowager Countesses[edit]

There is a possible confusion here: for about 20 years there were two widows of Earls of Exeter, Frances widow of Thomas Cecil, 1st Earl of Exeter and Elizabeth widow of David Cecil, 3rd Earl of Exeter. Now the old DNB article on Thomas Jacomb makes him chaplain to Elizabeth, from 1647. So it could be that the Cliffe reference has it wrong. Charles Matthews (talk) 21:21, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
