Number of Dead[edit]

Dennis Cassinelli states that Williams discovered 13 settlers bodies nearby, but I'm not so sure this is true.

Corbett states that the Sacramento Daily Union writes that Williams discovered 12 or 13 other whites in the area had been murdered. However, the Union goes on to state that Williams was pursued by 500 Indians, which is not true. I've not been able to find a contemporary source that states that 12 or 13 whites near the Williams Station were also killed at the same time. For example, p 152. of Thompson and West, 1881 don't mention 12 or 13 additional dead. I don't think we can include the unsubstantiated claim of 12-13 additional dead here. Wren 1904 also has no mention of 12-13 nearby dead. Both Thompson and West and Wren do mention three dead Whites found near present day Wadsworth. If 12-13 Whites were killed, surely these two sources would mention them. Cxbrx (talk) 06:01, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
