does any body know why after breaking the 800m WR he didnt go on to 1500m did he feel he wasnt good enough?
Kipketer was an 800 specialist (although he broke the 1000m indoor world record). He almost NEVER raced over 1500m - his PBs for 1500 and the mile were set in 1993 - 3:42.80 for 1500m and 3:59.57 for the mile. His 400m PB is only 46.85. These times mmake him something of a oddity, as the 400m time is much slower than someone like Juantorena (44.26) or Borzikovsky, but the 1500m is much slower than Coe/Ovett.
However, he could probably have run faster (particularly the longer events) but for whatever reasons, chose not to test himself.
