Unencyclopedic tone

This article appears to be written in a fairly unencyclopedic tone. In particular, it suffers from asking rhetorical questions in several places, which is not advisable. I'll quite happily have a go at editing it, but if somebody is actively maintaining it, then they would be better equipt to sort it out. Bob talk 00:27, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personally, I don't have a problem with a rhetorical question in the context they are placed here. However, I wrote this years ago amd it has been much edited since - so do what you like, no problem to me but remeber it is attempting to explainon one of architecture's unsolved mysteries.
