History irrelevant? This is supposed to be an online encyclopedia. All *real* info is relevant, no matter how old it is. Winfield Yellow filter-tip, as I remember from the mid 70s, was the original light product. "Blues" and the other colors came a few years after Yellow. The yellow pouch of ready-rubbed was not light, and came in the 80s. The 70s and 80s growth in pouch tobacco was, I suspect, caused by the large increase in cannabis use. The mix of tobacco and pot helped to cover up the strong pot stink when it was being smoked in public.203.220.105.56 (talk) 08:22, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article describes the brand as selling $750M/yr, making it #3 in retail brands. Most (95%) of the turnover is combined tax and excise. From a $25 packet the makers get about 15c and the retailers/wholesalers take $1. $1.30 is spent on treating all smoking-related diseases ($1b in total).
