Merge?
[edit]What is the need for a separate page on the discography of Wings. This should just be included in the McCartney discography page, and this should redirect to that. Reference works tend to just list Wings albums under their McCartney entry, and, indeed, it's often difficult to tell what should count as a Wings release and what as a McCartney solo release. Why not just avoid the problem entirely by just listing it all in one place? If people thought it made sense, we could move Paul McCartney discography to Paul McCartney & Wings discography, or what not. john k (talk) 15:30, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose. With respect to the Wings article, and all other articles on groups and bands for that matter, their is no reason for this discography to be redirected. As a band itself, and like all other band and group articles, the Wings article page also should have its own discograpgy page. As for the Paul McCartney discography page, all his non-Beatles material should be listed there, too, including everything in the Wings discography page. If it's listed twice, on two separate discography pages, their is nothing wrong with that. The discography page we have here for Wings is going to stay, though all the Wings material taken out of the Paul McCartney discography page should definately be restored. - Oppose. Although this seems to be dead, I just want to point out that this discussion results from a flawed premise, to wit: "[I]ndeed, it's often difficult to tell what should count as a Wings release and what as a McCartney solo release." Actually, there is no difficulty at all. The Wings releases were explicitly identified as Wings releases. Among the singles, there were three singles that featured A-sides by McCartney and B-sides by Wings, and all the rest were cleanly either McCartney singles or Wings singles. Among the albums, the only controversy is two greatest hits records (All the Best and Wingspan) that include both Wings and non-Wings material. Greatest hits albums can often be screwy -- George Harrison has a greatest hits album that includes 50% Beatles performances. As far as the other technical questions, I don't care whether none, some or all Wings releases are duplicated on McCartney's discography page. -- AyaK (talk) 03:09, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Take It Away
[edit]Shouldn't Take It Away from 1982 Tug of War be included in the Singles chart? It was a charting single. Refinnejann (talk) 18:12, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- Tug of War was a McCartney solo album, even though Laine and Linda McCartney appear on it. Neither Juber nor Holley, who were still in Wings at the time of its recording, appear on the album; in fact, Ringo Starr plays drums and George Martin plays piano on this song. It's in the Paul McCartney discography, where it belongs. -- AyaK (talk) 03:19, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
P. K. and The Sound Explosion
[edit]Just wanting to know why Paul McCartney and Wings Songbook LP P.K. and the Sound Explosion is nowhere in the Discography or other releases area for Wings. Was looking for history and info on where this album came from. Listening to it and the tracks have a clearly different sound than originals. I see that Pickwick did Songbook albums for other artists. Odd that I cannot find out anything about it here...
