Name of species[edit]

According to the Encyclopedia of Life and the New Zealand Organisms Registry the preferred name for this species is Wiseana umbraculata. Unless other editors object I intend to rename this article. Ambrosia10 (talk) 16:26, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There are some databases that use the -us spelling, but that's virtually absent from published sources (compare [1] with [2]; the only exception I can see is the first ref here) and it's easily explainable as an error due to the species being originally assigned to the genus Pielus. Wiseana is feminine in Latin, and as far as I can see umbraculatus' is your vanilla flavour adjective for 'having umbraculi' (so no, not some weird declension where the feminine also takes -us). – Uanfala (talk) 14:48, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
