Birthdate
From Allmusic: "born in 1987 in Minot, ND". From the Erie Times-News: "he didn't even celebrate his birthday on Sept. 8." Wiz Khalifa has a little brother named Oslo White, he was born on october 8th, his name on facebook is Monica Little. Follow him on twitter at ducee34. Both of which are cited inline with the statement. The sourcing for the lead need not be inline per WP:LEADCITE as it's redundant. dissolvetalk 19:41, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

"The page says that "Black and Yellow refers to the colors of the Pittsburgh Steelers, which is true. But it actually refers to the colors of all three of Pittsburgh's professional sports teams, which all wear Yellow and Black. It is the only city with all of the teams having unified colors. So the hook "Reppin' my town, when you see me you know everything / Black and Yellow" refers to representing his hometown with his clothes, jewelry and car.
Also, Taylor Gang, refers to his hometown crew. He attended Taylor Allderdice High School in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh.
75.21.77.54 (talk) 05:08, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. The source we have states that it is related to the Steelers. In order to show that it's about the other teams, you'll need a different/additional reliable source; the same goes for "Taylor Gang." Qwyrxian (talk) 06:09, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Common knowledge is information that is presumed to be shared by members of a specific "community;" and which therefore does not need citation. The above claims are common knowledge of any Pittsburgh native, Wiz Khalifa fan or acquaintance. While I understand Wikipedia's desire to validate accuracy, maintaining the positions stated on the page rather than the true statements above not only promote misinformation but make Wikipedia look like a joke. Essentially, the citations used for the so-called facts that this page is presented are unreliable, so it would be better to include no reference to Taylor Gang or the meaning of Black and Yellow than the positions stated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.123.70.70 (talk) 16:11, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Actually, song is not related to any sports team, it's about his car. As far as I know, Steelers have black painted helmet and yellow stripe on the middle of it. In song itself you can find line "black stripe, yellow paint". So, there is no matching. Anything else you can find from this video, which is not a really reliable source in Wikipedia's terms, but you can find there in-depth lyrics analysis, which can help to determine the truth about it. 89.189.191.12 (talk) 15:36, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
"Khalifa"
Khalifa was the nick name his grandfather gave him. Is it really accurate to refer to him as "Khalifa"? It seems to me that "Khalifa" is just the second part of his stage name and can't really be used as a surname. 128.113.153.192 (talk) 22:42, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
"Chrono Trigger"
I think the part about Chrono Trigger should be removed due to irrelevance. It's not really a "rip off" or illegal because he released that song on a free mixtape meaning he's making no money from it which makes it fairly irrelevant. Adding to the irrelevance is the fact that many other rappers have done this, whether rapping on track's from other rappers or tracks from artists of completely different genres simply to showcase their rapping abilities. This edit seems to have been done by a gamer with little knowledge of rap and a large bias toward Chrono Trigger which can be seen at the source accompanying the edit by others displaying a similar attitude.--Greenoxt (talk) 09:05, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'm the one who added the section, and I've undone the removal of it. I disagree wholeheartedly.
- Stealing someone's work of art, making it seem like you composed it yourself, without making it publicly known let alone showing respect to the original, is in my book always morally wrong and illegal, even if you didn't make a burnt wooden penny out of it. Also, your argument about it being ok just because many other rap artist have done it, is completely without base. You think crap tastes good just because a billion flies think so?
- I also don't believe your word about Wiz not making any money from this. A quick look at the tube shows that there's even an official music video of it. You really think he's not making any money out of it?
- There's a pragmatic aspect to this whole thing too. In the old days it might not have been a problem, if some rapper did his thing on a tape in the street corner. Nowadays it's different, when people put it on the tube with millions of viewers. Most of those people don't know where the tune came from, and obviously give credit to Wiz, who's not the one to deserve it.
- I don't like ad hominem agrumentation, and I often don't take a stand on it, but FYI I am a gamer, but I'm more a big consumer of music. Ripoff is a ripoff, no matter how you sugarcoat it.Pike84 (talk) 18:30, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- A tribute is a tribute. He's 23 I don't see how you can differentiate someone on a street corner to someone on the "tube". 98.180.218.5 (talk) 21:40, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- It's only a tribute, if it says it's a tribute. To my knowledge, Wiz hasn't given any word of the tune's origins. Correct me if I'm wrong.
- I was talking about youtube, just didn't want to advertise. Not sure if you realized. Anyway, the point was that the times have changed, not to differentiate someone "on the tube" to someone on the streets. It wouldn't be a very easy difference to make anyway - not today.Pike84 (talk) 22:25, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- First of all, music producers sample other music all the time. You don't know if he got permission or not, so why even include it in the article. The song "One Way" sampled Grape Garden from Kirby's Adventure. He hasn't talked about it, and he's never going to, because it's not important. Are you going to get emotional about that? This is no reason to ruin the man's Wikipedia article. You need to vent about this on another website. Your reference isn't even a reliable source. I'm not going to remove the section this time though, I'll leave that to other people. Hstarrunner621 (talk) 17:58, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- Resampling in a creative way is one thing, but he's literally just talking over the original track. He didn't even alter it at all. It's just the original mix from Chrono Trigger with him talking over it. If you ask me, that's plagiarism. --99.28.9.131 (talk) 00:47, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- You're using the same fallacious argumentation as the other user before you: it's ok because others do it/it's being done all the time. That's not a valid justification. Killing other people isn't right either, even though it's being done all the time all over the world. Besides, "sampling music" doesn't mean completely ripping off a tune and using it as a background for your own song - at least it shouldn't mean, but that's exactly what Wiz has done here.
- I don't know about the Kirby tune, but if he's ripped that off as flagrantly as this one, indeed, perhaps it should be mentioned too. I think this just further showcases what kind of an artist we're talking about here.
- I don't think I'm ruining his page with this (the section with the heading and all, is very neutral now, and actually more tame than I'd like), and actually, the fact that you think I'm ruining it, is a proof that even you think there's something wrong with his actions. I've given enough reasons for including this information, and I think it's important and valid. You don't think it's important, because you don't care about the game, and only want to protect Wiz's reputation.
- My reference isn't a reliable source? Well, I only googled about it, and it was one of dozens of others with the same point. I didn't notice any, that would have some sort of explanation, or even a mention of it from the artist himself. I can grab you a "more reliable source" if you like though, but what's the point? The whole matter is obvious and anyone can confirm it themselves just by listening the tunes from the tube.Pike84 (talk) 19:10, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- You obviously have little to no knowledge of how the music business works. It saddens me that people as ignorant as you are allowed to edit Wikipedia.
- 1. If it's a song from a whole year ago, obviously he would have been sued by now if it were used illegally.
- 2. How do you equate killing people to rapping over someone else's music.
- 3. What bothers me the most is that you never went to the talk page to discuss the addition of this section, so I think it's not right that we need to convince you on the talk page just to take it off.
- I'll stop removing the section though. The source is fine. If you feel strongly that the section should be less neutral, I recommend getting an admin involved.Hstarrunner621 (talk) 22:20, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- 1. How do you figure? It's a song from like 15 years ago, do you think the copyright holders are expected to keep a watch over every single new artist and their production in the world, to be certain no one's ripping their work off? Besides, this wasn't really about it being legal or illegal. My point was about respect to the works of art by others. The laws reflect this to an extent of course, but laws are derived of moral values, and not the other way around.
- 2. It was an analoguous example, to clarify the point. That is, you can't tell an actions moral value (if something is right or wrong) from whether people do it or not. More generally, you can't tell how something should be, from how it is. It's a type of circular logic. If you still don't understand I can make up more examples, but I can't do the thinking for you.
- 3. I did check if there was any mention or discussion about it already before I did the edit. I figured if there was something to discuss, the best way to raise discussion would be to edit the article. People don't check these discussion pages so often, that I'd probably still be waiting for a reply, if I just asked about the matter here.Pike84 (talk) 23:30, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- I have a much better idea. Since it's such an insignificant Wiz Khalifa song, I recommend you move the section to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kush_%26_Orange_Juice , the mixtape the song is from.Hstarrunner621 (talk) 00:05, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
- Eh? He'sampling all those other songs, promotes them on Twitter and on music mags that give reviews, makes music videos of them (that get posted on Youtube getting millions of views), and never says a single word about the original artists?? That's just... foul. Even if it's a free mixtape that he's supposedly not making money out of, as it is, this stuff has huge promotional value. And still, not a drop of respect for the artists he's using to back him up. This one's no musician, and if most other rappers do it like this, then I guess I really am fighting windmills here. I've even liked some rap music in my time, but this guy is just making me sick.
- It seems like there's already a mention about the Chrono Trigger theme as well as other originals on the mixtape's page, so I guess the sole mention of the use of one tune is out of place. However, since he's so busy ripping off other artists' music without giving credit to them, how about a general mention about it, with some examples, or a reference to the mixtape's page?Pike84 (talk) 02:09, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
- Once again, considering Wiz Khalifa isn't aware of said "controversy", I'm sure the producers of all of those songs obtained the proper permissions to use the samples. They're professionals who know what they're doing. Wouldn't they have gotten sued by now? And you have no idea if he gave credit to those artists. Obviously he can't just give them "shout-outs" in mid-song. The fact that we even need to discuss this is ridiculous. This stuff belongs on a blog, not on Wikipedia. And you seem to have some weird belief that "YouTube views = money". Where are you getting this?Hstarrunner621 (talk) 04:13, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
I've removed the section. If it's a notable controversy, it will be covered in various reliable sources. As it stands now, that looks like a blog that speculates as to whether or not the sample is cleared. That doesn't belong on Wikipedia. If there are actual sources showing this is a controversy or a legal problem, please show them. Dayewalker (talk) 04:33, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
@Hstarrunner621: I never implied that Youtube views would give money to anyone directly. Read again, I was talking about promotional value.Pike84 (talk) 13:15, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Edit request - Khalifa honored by hometown
This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
Please add the following two sentences to the Personal life section:
Pittsburgh City Council declared 12-12-12 (December 12, 2012) to be Wiz Khalifa Day in the city.[1] Khalifa graduated from Pittsburgh's Taylor Allderdice High School[1] and owns a home in nearby Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, where he lives part time.[2]
Also, please remove the sentence: "The couple is set to get the legal documents signed in order to get married in the next couple weeks, with Wiz saying they wont have the wedding until after the baby is born.[48]". First, readers have no idea when "the next couple of weeks" is. Second, it's written very poorly (and has a typo, and refers to him as Wiz instead of Khalifa). Third, and most importantly, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette cite above reveals when the baby is due and when the couple will get married. It says, "Khalifa noted that his baby was due in January and that he and his fiancee planned to marry in March or April.". So can you please add that important info in place of the removed sentence, with the following sentence:
Khalifa said the baby is due in January 2013 and that he and Rose plan to get married a few months later, in March or April.[1]
You can copy/paste the new content from the edit page, which includes the full citations. Thanks. --76.189.107.195 (talk) 22:23, 11 December 2012 (UTC) 23:03, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
Edit request : baby's due date
This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
Please add back the sentence and three reliable sources that were inappropriately removed from the "Personal life" section via this edit. By removing that sentence, it throws the sequence of events out of context. Khalifa had originally announced one due date, then updated it, as indicated by the content that was removed. Instead of just adding the new content (about the baby's birth), the editor inexplicably also removed the existing content.
The following is what was removed and can just be copy-and-pasted back in prior to the sentence that begins with "Rose gave birth to...":
The baby's due date was subsequently changed to February 24.<ref>{{cite news|last=Vena|first=Jocelyn|title=Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose Reveal Baby's Due Date|url=http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1701694/wiz-khalifa-amber-rose-baby-due-date-2013-grammys.jhtml|newspaper=MTV|date=February 10, 2013}}</ref><ref>{{cite news|title=Wiz Khalifa - Wiz Khalifa Planning To Hand-deliver Amber Rose's Baby|url=http://www.contactmusic.com/news/wiz-khalifa-planning-to-hand-deliver-amber-rose-s-baby_3478039|newspaper=Contactmusic|date=February 1, 2013}}</ref><ref>{{cite news|last=Nostro|first=Lauren|title=Wiz Khalifa Will Deliver the Baby Himself When Amber Rose Gives Birth|url=http://www.complex.com/music/2013/01/wiz-khalifa-will-deliver-the-baby-himself-when-amber-rose-gives-birth|newspaper=Complex|date=January 30, 2013}}</ref>
