He is a German citizen, and his name in his German passport is written in the same way as on the covers of all his books: Wladimir. As he left the Soviet Union before its downfall, he probably possesses no Russian citizenship. Hence a transliteration from Russian into English makes only sense as such in the parentheses near his birth name. --Off-shell (talk) 22:01, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
