The result of the move request was: not moved. The consensus leans towards opposition to the move. The majority of the participating editors have expressed concerns about ambiguity and potential confusion with other similarly titled films. The policy WP:SMALLDETAILS has been interpreted by the majority to mean that the absence of "The" is not a substantial enough detail to distinguish the 2024 film from the classic 1941 film or other related films. Therefore, it would be reasonable to maintain the current title with the year disambiguation for clarity and to avoid confusion. Wolf Man (2024 film)Wolf Man (film) – This is the only movie with the title of Wolf Man. We do not need to specify the year. ScottSullivan01 (talk) 02:05, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Opening sentence

[edit]

I think we should have a werewolf film article (just made that link redirect to werewolf fiction for now). It could replace supernatural horror film which is relatively too broad. Very easy to find reliable sources about the werewolf film genre, like the book Phases of the Moon: A Cultural History of the Werewolf Film or The Werewolf Filmography: 300+ Movies or Gender and Werewolf Cinema. Definitely agree that an article could definitely be made in the vein of Vampire film and Zombie film. Could even make a list of werewolf films too if there are enough sources in a similar vein of the articles list of vampire or list of mummy films. However I don't think this could replace the genre in the lead. I couldn't find exact discussion of the rule on this topic but no Vampire or Zombie films (as examples) that I could find use their creature "genre" as its MOS:FILMGENRE so I assume the same would go for this article. I was inspired and began Draft:List of werewolf films. Yeoutie (talk) 06:28, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nice job starting the list! Regarding the genre, vampire films and zombie films should be considered subgenres of horror films. It may simply be that people have not tried revising the opening sentences with these links, even though these articles would be more directly informative to readers than the broader horror genre article. Vampire and zombie films often have their own conventions (as well as films that try to break away from these conventions). I could definitely see the same for werewolf films.
