I think this page should be disambigated. There should be separate pages with sources if possible. I might work on trying to get one made later today or tomorrow. educational workshops[edit]

I haven't checked carefully yet, but most of the information about educational workshops that was recently added belongs on the disambiguation page, which is linked in the original hatnote. There seems to be enough material to support a workshop (education) or workshop (event) page on its own, however. I'm really new to wikipedia and trying to understand the rules, but it's pretty tough to wrap my head around the organizational format of the articles. It seems like when a google search is performed that this topic is pretty evenly split between the educational kind of workshop and the garage/shop kind of workshop. The disambiguation hatnote doesn't seem to draw enough attention that there is a two very different meanings that are equally common. Deleted text on "information era" workshop[edit]

The hatnote, which has been at the top of this article for years, says the article is about mechanical engineering. Any editor is welcome to create additional articles about other kinds of workshops; a few such articles have already been created. See Workshop (disambiguation). The following text was removed, as it was off-topic. Someone may choose to use this text in another article.

During the "information era", a workshop describes an office or conference room meeting intended to create or generate plans, analysis, or design to support organizational efforts. Some people would differentiate a meeting from a workshop by suggesting that a meeting may contain an array of topics not dependent on each other in the sequence listed. For example, in a traditional "board of directors meeting", the treasurer's report appears early but it could be moved to one of the last items on the agenda without affecting other business of the meeting. Frequently workshops are focused on creating or delivering something (e.g., process improvement) and the sequence or order of the agenda items is critical to the development of the meeting output, frequently called a "deliverable".
