Fair use rationale for Image:World Of Sport (UK) Theme excerpt.ogg

[edit]

Image:World Of Sport (UK) Theme excerpt.ogg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Relief anchormen

[edit]

The normal relief anchorman during Dickie Davies' tenure was Fred Dinenage. I am not aware of there having been a relief during Eamonn Andrews' tenure unless it was Davies. However, at least two other reporters are thought to have anchored the show from the studio on at least one occasion: Steve Rider and Gerald Sinstadt, though I have no idea of dates and have not found proof, so if anyone can help with these points, it may be possible to include this in the article proper.

Occasionally, a show would come from a major horse racing event, especially if it was at York, with very little from the studio, and Brough Scott would be the effective anchor.EmleyMoor (talk) 18:17, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Theme Tune

[edit]

Did Jeff Wayne's theme start in 1979? I thought it was after that — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.107.65 (talk) 03:18, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct. The original, somewhat remixed, was in use until at least April 1982. 1983 seems more likely for the change but I would like to be able to cite something clearly.EmleyMoor (talk) 14:41, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty sure I remember the Jeff Wayne tune wth a speeded up version of the originasl titles in the early 80s but it was a long time ago so unsure of that! Jeff Wayne composed the Results Service theme tune in the 80s after WOS was dropped. Can't remember much more but agree with the above, 1983 was probably the right year — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.109.147.128 (talk) 08:12, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Midweek Sports Special

[edit]

This ran during WoS's time on air, and into the early 1990s, as a midweek-equivalent of World of Sport. Should this be included in this article or should it be a separate article? Rillington (talk) 12:08, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
