Women's 100 LCM Freestyle record -- Lenton 52.99 not ratified[edit]

According to Swimming World Magazine, Libby Lenton's 52.99 will not be ratified by FINA. I will not remove it from the progression for now, although my feeling is that since it is not a record, it probably should be removed, although such a removal could probably be delayed until FINA officially promulgates it (i.e., by issuing the next world record list without the 52.99). –Pakman044 07:27, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

World record went up?[edit]

Right around reference 12 (sorry, no tabbed browsing so I can't go back to check), the world record goes from 54.8 seconds to 55.4. Is this table suggesting that the world record time went up? Or was the 54.8 seconds (a special record attempt, if I recall correctly) somehow not a valid record? 218.225.111.205 (talk) 01:02, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Until 1958, world records in events up to and including 500 meters in length could be set in short-course pools as short as 25 yards. From 1958 until sometime in the last 10 or 15 years, world records could only be set in long-course pools (50 meters). Then (I don't know when exactly) a separate list of world records set in 25 meter long short-course pools was recognized, alongside the list of long-course world records. Relay times[edit]

Only the first swimmer in a leg of a relay can attempt an individual record. Therefore the 46.06 posted by Jason Lezak isn't an official world record, since he was anchor in the event. 24.19.238.74 (talk) 20:03, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

why is Bernard's 46.96 crossed out?[edit]

The article needs to explain what is going on here. There is a line crossing out Alain Bernard's 46.94, but there is no explanation of what this means, or why is it crossed out. Nor is there any explanation in the Alain Bernard article. Adpete (talk) 12:18, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
