change the title[edit]

i think this page should be renamed to a title apropiate to the accident, since most of this article talks about that. --Sliderandtheotters (talk) 13:36, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with that statement, the current article is a WP:COATRACK, being an incident article masquerading as a ship article. The MV Wakashio article was renamed to being the MV Wakashio oil spill article, so similarly, this article needs to be named. X-Press Pearl fire and sinking ? -- 67.70.27.180 (talk) 16:53, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
After a rename, X-Press Pearl (ship) can be split off with the operational history as its content. The majority of the edit history is about the incident, and not the ship overall, so the article needs to be renamed and split later, instead of just splitting without the edit history attached to an incident article. I suggest a disambiguated form, as it is more likely that the base name refers to the incident rather than the ship itself. -- 67.70.27.180 (talk) 16:57, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No objection in principle, to the first point - that this article name should reflect the content, and that X-Press Pearl fire and sinking is as good as anything. However I think it unlikely that a separate ship-only article would be much more than a permanent stub for a ship that only lasted for three months. Yet the description of the ship itself is certainly important and should not be discarded (as happened with MV Wakashio). So there needs to be some accommodation of text imported from the ship infobox. Consequently, I would expect to see the section on the ship developed and retained.Davidships (talk) 17:19, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
