Name[edit]

@User:Semsûrî The name of this page should be "Khalil Is'irdi" or "Khalil Si'irti". This is not the Kurdish version of Wikipedia, so titles should be written in English or English transliteration, using for example the Library of Congress transliteration or a similar popular method of transliterating. See e.g. the VIAF page. The current title is not suitable or consistent with how these type of names are typically written in the English Wikipedia. الدبوني (talk) 10:12, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Per COMMON the current name is most suitable of the three as "Khalil Is'irdi" nor "Khalil Si'irti" render any results on Google. Semsûrî (talk) 12:34, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@User:Semsûrî Thanks for getting back to. Google results are not a good basis in this context, mostly because a) Results are mostly in non-English, and b) the circular referencing problem. Ideally, I do not want to change the name without your approval, but it is not COMMON to have odd letters such as î or ê in titles in the English Wikipedia (most people do not have these on their keyboard), especially when more standard transliterations are widespread and more easily understood.--الدبوني (talk) 16:06, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The reason I started this discussion is I was creating the Arabic version of this page and it took me a long time to find the equivalent En page, mostly because of the non-standard way it was written. The point is, we should make it as easy as possible for people to navigate to this page, and the current name does not do that.--الدبوني (talk) 16:08, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
