ok we gotta talk about the cult aspect of this cult one way or another, as neutral and devils advocate as possible i guess[edit]

got my edits trying to give resources to those seeking a way out of this cult removed stating that that was not neutral wiki standards. so how can we neutrally offer ways to prevent suicide?

property ownership[edit]

This article does nothing to address the fishy nature of the church's real estate. They buy houses for cheap, flip them, and then rent them to church mambers. Where does all the money go? Are they paying taxes on these properties? Why do adults have to follow a code of behavior just to live in these houses. Isn't paying rent enough? This article does not mention how controling house members can be or how strict house rules are. As a person who lives in Columbus, I have heard many people dismiss Xenos as a weird cult. The rent for a house is split up among many more people than you'd find in other apartments in the area; houses can get get as large as an upwards of 12 to 15 men or women, usually before a new house is found to rent out and the house splits into two. The majority of houses which are rented out by church members aren't owned by the church either. Concerning where all the monney is going, the church has an open check book policy; anyone at any time can walk in and ask to see their financials and they have to show. They also pay someone to audit their expenses every... I believe it's 10 years but it could be 5. And yes, many people do think it's a cult. 128.146.97.99 (talk) 16:01, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Actually the church helps with the purchasing of new ministry houses. There is a dedicated Xenos House Fund that is contributed to by the General Fund which provides 0-interest loans for new groups that are splitting. By splitting, of course, I mean the procedural forced-goodbyes that dissipate entirely fake relationships.

Controversy[edit]

I see a few rumblings of this in the edit history but no discussion of it, and I think it needs to at least be brought up in the talk page to determine whether it merits inclusion in the article: Xenos is fairly notorious in the areas where it is active for it's cult-like practices and the frequently bizarre manner in which the organization's leadership tries to defend or justify those practices. Search engine results for the organization will present one or two officially owned pages followed by a nearly unbroken chain of websites and articles where the word 'cult' is used in the title. I would go so far as to contend that the majority of people who would be looking it up on this website would only know of the organization through this controversy, and would probably be looking for an impartial source regarding it. I am new to editing on wikipedia and I don't want to jump into a project like that without understanding the etiquette involved but if there is nothing in the guidelines prohibiting it I would suggest some acknowledgement of the controversial nature of Xenos to be a necessary addition to the article.
