Common Name Question

Its common name is one translation of the Latin funestus (see here). So the real question is why is this its species name? I've now looked at the original German description by Keyserling and I can't see that he gives any explanation of why he chose this name. Personally I suspect that the 'deadly' sense is more likely than the 'sad' sense. Peter coxhead (talk) 09:58, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
