Geographical scope?

[edit]

As often happens when describing these lines, the geographical extent of the line is ambiguous -- at first it's Taunton to Hendford, but then maybe it includes Yeovil Town to Pen Mill and Yeovil Town to Yeovil Junction. (And maybe doesn't include Durston to Taunton.)

I don't intend to be hair-splitting, but I propose to make the extent more explicit, including those short Yeovil sections.

But before I do so, can anyone reassure me that they aren't already covered eslewhere? (I haven't found anything, apart from the station location pages.) 213.106.87.240 (talk) 19:42, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article certainly needs to include the section from Hendford to Pen Mill - this was an early extension of the original line. The other end is less clear. The branch physically starts at Durston, as did the services in the early days, but people alive today remember (if anything) trains running through to and from Taunton. I would be quite happy if it just covered Durston to Pen Mill; I won't lose any sleep if covers Taunton to Pen Mill, even if the first couple of miles are really on the Bristol to Taunton Line. Yes, quite. I'll expand the article regarding it as [Taunton -] Durston - Hendford - Pen Mill with a passing reference to the S&YR and LSWR. Afterbrunel (talk) 16:08, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
