Yosel or Yozel

[edit]

The source cited has the middle name as Yosel. should the article be renamed? Joe407 (talk) 04:43, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like sourcing from website spellings diverges from print sources. Common problem. The most common print spelling appears to be Yoizel - 60 hits in Google books - though populist texts. Also note also German Josel per Bender The Jews of Bialystok during World War II and the Holocaust p37 "The Musar yeshiva Beit Yosef (Novardok) was set up in Bialystok in the early 1920s. The Musar yeshivot founded by Rabbi Joseph Josel Horowitz followed an even more rigorous Musar program than that ..." etc. Plus Joseph Yozel Hurvits in Louis Finkelstein The Jews: their history, culture, and religion 1960 and Hurvitz with a z in 3x Encyclopedia Judaica supplements.
